Can anyone offer a reason why Cool Edit 2000 sometimes crashes
with the warning 'cool edit has encountered a problem and needs to close.'
This is really annoying after recording 30 minutes or more but also happens after a few minutes as well. This obliges me to also use the minidisk if I want to be sure of recording a radio program or other station (Ham radio).
I have tried every combination of TEMP files, same disk or spilt across 2 disks, or no 2nd temp at all. But they all crash. Is it a Cool Edit bug? Have Adobe fixed it in their release?
In desperation, I have resorted to saving the huge temp file (CEPF.tmp for example) but it doesn't produce anything when read in as RAW or any other format. Anyone know if it's possible to import this? Oh yes, I have 12 GB of free space before you ask!
My System settings are:
Total Buffer Size 4 seconds, using 12 buffers Y Quick Play
Cache Size 32768 Kbytes Peaks Cache 1024 per Block trying 2048)
N Use System's Cache Y Save Peak Cache Files
Y Async Access
Temp1: E:Temp
Temp2: I:Temp (disk without CoolEdit installation)
Undo levels 10
This worse possible problem really ruins an otherwise excellent tool.
